DAILY BRIEFING
The Moron's Daily Briefing

Mar. 6 - I should have mentioned yesterday that it was Ash Wednesday. I did not and I apologize for the omission.

Today, however, is not Ash Wednesday. Neither is it Fat Tuesday. It's Thursday, and a long goddam way to spring.

Michelangelo Buonarotti was born on this date in 1475. He painted and sculpted so much that people finally decided it was time to stop procrastinating and have the Renaissance.

So they did.

On March 6, 1619, Cyrano de Bergerac was born. Mr. de Bergerac was a brilliant French satirist and playwright, a rapier wit, and, from all contemporary accounts, an accomplished musician, an enthralling conversationalist, and a charming ladies' man. He is best known for his nose.

Shaquille O'Neal is 31 today. He shares his birthday with Tom Arnold (1959), Rob Reiner (1945), Kiri Te Kanawa (1944), Willie Stargell (1941), Marion Barry (1936), Gabriel Garcia Marquez (1927), Alan Greenspan (1926), Ed McMahon (1923), Lou Costello (1906), and, of course, Michelangelo and Cyrano.

It's Independence Day in Ghana.
